Local scrunkle rambles about art stuff! - February 23rd, 2025
Here I am back at it again with another blog of some sort, this time I wanted to ramble about how my art process is and stuff.
I just usually draw when I wanna draw, how my character design thought process is another question to answer. Usually when designing a character, I try not to make the other character look the same as the character I designed before.
I just go with my flow and design a character and tweak it to make it stand out to the crowd, and as my art style improves over time I just keep tweaking the character's design to be more unique of itself.
You've should've seen my old art from 2023... most characters I drew back then looked samey in a sense.
As for the style... if you've seen my more recent works, you can tell I aim for realism with a bit of a cartoonish twist around the edges. I wanted my own style to stand out to the crowd and not have a more downright cartoonish art style
mind you I started with stick figures when I was a kid as I knew jack shit about how to draw back then, then worked my way up to a more cartoonish style that I used from say... mid to late 2018 to late 2022. Then I had a more cringey, realistic (although not really)
art style from late 2022 to early 2023. then I kinda fell back to the cartoony style but more advanced. Then in mid 2023, It was back to realistic, though I had a bit of a better understanding this time. then I kept on evolving that style throughout 2024 and as the drawings progressed,
it went from an ugly looking style to a pretty unique style with a cool twist. The style lately has been the one I'm proud to have worked upon and improved the most.
As for the comics, right now I'm sticking to 3-4 panel comic strips to build the universe I have my characters in. I actually planned to make a comic where Neon and Alita encountered Nyx at a sandwich location, I only got around 2 pages in before I cancelled the idea. Then I tried to
make a full on comic about Neon filled with actual lore. then that fell through too. I then made a single page comic in 2024 where Neon and Camila were watching a bad movie they were seeing. Call that one a prototype of what would be the comics I make today.
I always wanted to make comic panels with my OCs to help build a world, and get a more in-depth look at what my OCs do, and be like in the same universe I build upon. and as my art career progresses, so will my ambitions of what I wanted to do. even more simple things like mainly drawings you guys see!
I've rambled on what I could type for a bit, but I will continue to be an artist no matter what because it's my fucking passion. No amount of AI, or negative people will change me. I was born with creative talents and god damn it I will continue to draw.
Shine On!
